University of Udine, with its two teams QDine - Merlin and QDine - Arthur has won both the challenges posed by University of Cagliari in the context of the Quantum Code Challenge - Quantum Algorithms for the smart cities. QDine - Arthur team competed for the apprentice challenge, which consisted of a set of 13 problems spanning from basic quantum computing, to Quantum Machine Learning with a focus on QUBO as well. On the other hand, QDine - Merlin team has won the wizard challenge. They were asked to devise quantum machine learning algorithms to generate alerts for the community starting from real data gathered in the smart city of Cagliari. Some examples of data are pollution related measurement, unique attendance information and weather data. The solution we proposed was a temporal quantum kernel for anomaly detection to recognize anomalies in unique attendace dataset. Check out the following link for more details.
